The Studio

The studio consists of a substantial workspace below a mezzanine art library. It’s a large airy space filled with natural light from our gardens. The area also has a seated workstation perfect for sketching, journaling and watercolour painting. Open 24 hours a day for our guests.

The ground floor workspace has a good selection of sturdy easels suitable for large canvases and stocked with art equipment to cover most mediums. Oil, acrylic and watercolor paint is plentiful and can be applied with any of the range of brushes or tools. We also have a large selection of drawing materials, boards, paper and in-house custom canvas service.

There are many stunning sites around the retreat. We can arrange outdoor excursions to the nearby wetlands, markets or beaches. Plein air excursions are also available but will depend on weather and lighting. The sunset on the beach is particularly fun to paint with a group of friends. About Elsie
Elsie Evans has made her mark on the art scene in Thailand with her vibrant paintings and reputation as an inspiring art teacher.
She founded Attic Studios in Bangkok where she provided art instruction to all levels and abilities for 10 years. Not only is Elsie an accomplished and enthusiastic artist, she has a natural rapport with her students and a unique ability to make art lessons an immensely enjoyable experience for all ages and abilities. Each class is specifically designed to suit the students experience, preferences and interests in a variety of media.
If you’re ever thinking “I would like to paint. But I don’t know what”… Don’t worry that’s my job. I have endless ideas for all abilities.
And if you know what but not how….that’s my job too. At my great age, I’ve taught lots of different techniques in various mediums to all kinds of people.

Can kids join art class?
Yes, art is for everyone! Elsie has taught students from age 3 to 83 years old.
Do I need to bring anything?
No, we have all the art supplies and equipment you need. All you need to bring is yourself!
Can non-guests join art class?
Yes, but please contact us first to confirm the time and rates for drop-in classes before you show up.
How much does it cost?
Guests can enjoy one (1) art class per day for free. Contact us to inquire about drop-in class rates.
What time is art class?
Class is usually from 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM, but we can also arrange an afternoon class if prefered.
Do you host workshops?
Yes, we can arrange workshops or outdoor art excursions for your group or family.
